This game is basically a dating sim game so of course the main point is to date. There are 5 dateable character.
Donald
One of your roommate's brother. He is the naughty boy which always get detention every Saturday. He gotta live up to his reputation~
Damien
He is demon from Otherworld. He is suppose to collect soul from those who are willing to give it to him. So, if you are on his path, I guess you have to offer him your soul...
Grabiner
He is a teacher in this game. He somehow remind me of Severus Snape from Harry Porter.. I wonder if its just me, lol
Virginia
Believe it or not, you can date a girl too. She is not the only girl you can date though. By the way, she is Donald's sister
Ellen
She is another dateable girl. One of your roommate too. She is more of the science type of the girl, I suppose.
For this game, you can choose how you want your character to look like. Customize it anyway you like or you can click on random customization if you are lazy. Usually, most of the dating sim game don't allow us to choose how we want our character to look like so I guess this make Magical Diary special?
Basically, this game is about meeting the character and upgrading your status such as Smart (MP), Strong (HP) and so on.
Just like any other dating sim game, you have choices to choose. In addition to that, to up your status, you have to choose what to do for the week. Either taking magic class of any color magic or going to gym to up your strong or study.
One thing about dating sim game which make me want to replay them again and again is the extras; trophies and gallery. Call me hardcore if you have to cause I spend 2 days just to get all the trophies available.
It is about school life after all so there are exams in the game. Every exam take place in the dungeon. You have to use your brain to think of how to solve the puzzle given to you and pass the exam. Giving up in exam or losing all your health point can cause demerits. Careful not to collect too much demerits or you will be expelled!
On Saturday, you can choose either to study or go to mall. Going to mall is basically for you to relieve stress but depending on what you do, you might need to use your money. You can also purchase item from Magic Store. However, with the amount of money available, you can't buy everything so buy only those that you really want.
